Viaondo vs Tern

Tern is an all-in-one platform for travel advisors: itineraries, CRM, client payments, commissions and AI, plus the Tern for Travelers app for your clients. Viaondo focuses on building the trip and delivering it as a web app with your brand. The app works in ten languages, and the price is flat per agency. If you want payments and commission reconciliation in the same tool as your itineraries, Tern is the better fit. Viaondo suits agencies that already sell their own way and deliver trips to clients who speak other languages.

What does Tern do better than Viaondo?

Tern does far more of the selling and the back office. According to its pricing page, every Tern plan includes itineraries, a full CRM, AI tools, email integration, scheduling and booking, credit card authorization, client forms and intake, and reports. Tern says it replaces your CRM, scheduler, itinerary builder, forms, back-office and email marketing tools. Viaondo stops at the trip. It has no CRM or proposals, and it doesn’t handle payments.

Tern also does more in these areas:

  • Selling and collecting. Clients can pick rooms and add excursions in the client portal, approve with timestamps and pay through integrated checkout with deposits and receipts.
  • Back office for agencies. Agency plans (3+ seats) add commission reconciliation, supplier payment management, agency-wide reporting, a shared content library and centralized billing.
  • Supplier content. Tern lists a cruise database of more than 50,000 sailings, hotel content with images, activity booking and insurance quotes.
  • An app in the stores with flight alerts. Tern for Travelers is on iOS and Android and sends flight change push notifications. Viaondo is a web app and isn’t in the App Store or Google Play.
  • An AI assistant beyond bookings. Tern AI also drafts replies to client and supplier emails and updates trips from confirmations. It waits for your approval each time.

How is Tern priced?

Tern charges per seat, and the seat gets cheaper as the team grows. One or two advisors pay $49/seat/month, or $35/seat/month paid annually. From three seats, the 3–24 advisor tier costs $33/seat/month paid monthly, $28 quarterly or $25 annually. Its terms of service give a 14-day trial and let you cancel anytime, with no refunds for unused time.

For a team of three that means $99/month paid monthly or $75/month paid annually, against Viaondo’s US$50/month for the agency, plus VAT where it applies. Since July 1, 2026, Tern’s AI has usage limits; Viaondo’s import has a fair-use allowance of 300 documents per agency per month.

When is Viaondo the better choice?

Viaondo is the better choice when you already sell and collect elsewhere and the client’s side of the trip is what you want to improve:

  • Your clients speak other languages. The app and the dashboard work in ten languages. The Tern for Travelers App Store listing shows English.
  • You don’t want clients to install or sign in. They open a private link in the browser and, if they like, add the trip to their home screen.
  • You work as a team. One price for the agency instead of one per seat. Details on pricing.
  • You care where your data lives. Viaondo’s database and files are stored in the EU. Tern’s privacy policy says it processes and stores data in the United States and other countries.

Who should stay on Tern?

Stay on Tern if you take payments and reconcile commissions in it. An agency that sends clients to its portal to choose rooms and pay deposits, or that relies on the cruise database and supplier payment management, would have to rebuild that elsewhere: Viaondo does none of it. The same applies if your clients like Tern for Travelers’ flight change notifications, since Viaondo doesn’t track flights.

A host-style agency with many advisors also gets Tern’s lowest seat price, $25/seat/month billed annually. If your advisors live in Tern all day, adding Viaondo only makes sense for the trip delivery: clients who need another language, or who shouldn’t have to sign in.

How does your client open the trip?

According to Tern’s help center, clients download Tern for Travelers or open a browser link, and sign in with the email you have on file, because the itinerary can contain passport and confirmation numbers. With Viaondo, the link itself opens the traveler app. You can send the group link, which has the whole trip, or give each traveler a personal link with their own documents and seats.

What happens when something changes?

Tern pushes flight change notifications to the app. In Viaondo, when you publish a new version, the traveler sees the old and new version of each change and can get an email notice in their language. Viaondo doesn’t track flights, but travelers who opt in get push reminders: the evening before the trip, when it’s time to leave, at boarding and a daily brief.

How do you move from Tern to Viaondo?

Viaondo doesn’t connect to Tern, so nothing comes over automatically. Upload the PDFs, screenshots or confirmation emails of your next departures to booking import: each item goes into the trip’s draft with its local time and the document it came from, and nothing reaches your client until you publish.

Most Tern agencies keep selling and collecting in Tern while Viaondo delivers the trip. Your clients stop signing in with their email: they open the link. Start with the 14-day free trial, or open the example app without an account.
