Packing list

Made with the free Viaondo packing checklist

How the checklist works

  1. Describe the trip

Nights, weather and what the trip includes. The list adds or removes items as you choose, and works out how many of the everyday clothes to pack.

  2. Tick off as you pack

Tap each item once it’s in the suitcase. Add your own items; everything is saved in this browser.

  3. Print or share it

Print the list or save it as a PDF to send to your clients before their trip.

A worked example: a week at the beach

Seven nights somewhere warm, with a beach and an international flight: the example the checklist opens with. The list shows 30 items in five groups: documents and money, clothes, toiletries and health, electronics, and beach. Visas and entry forms, local currency for the first day and a plug adapter are there because the flight is international; shorts, a sun hat, sunscreen and a swimsuit because it’s warm and there’s a beach. The cold-weather, hiking, work and children’s items stay hidden.

Underwear, socks and tops come with a number: one per night plus one, up to seven. Three nights gives four of each. Seven nights would give eight, so the list stops at seven and assumes a wash after a week. Every item you tick, and any you add, is saved in this browser.

The rules behind the list

The quantities are our own rule of thumb, not a standard. Two items on the list follow real rules that travelers often learn at the airport.

Power banks and spare batteries go in hand luggage. The US Federal Aviation Administration says spare lithium batteries and power banks must be carried in carry-on baggage only, and taken out of a bag that is checked at the gate. It adds that many airlines set stricter limits, for example on how many power banks each passenger may carry, so check the airline’s own page.

Liquids depend on where you fly from. At US airport checkpoints, the TSA allows one quart-sized bag of liquids, gels and creams in containers of 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less each. GOV.UK says the liquids rules have changed at some UK airports and asks travelers to check with the airport before they fly. That’s why the toiletries on the list are travel size.

For travel agencies

Packing is half of getting ready. The other half is having the right documents on the phone when there’s no signal: boarding passes, vouchers, the insurance number. In Viaondo, the trip is saved on the client’s phone for offline use and includes a Getting ready checklist they tick off in their own language.

Questions about the packing checklist

How many clothes does it suggest?
One of each everyday item (underwear, socks, tops) per night plus one, up to seven. For longer trips, plan to do laundry once a week.
Is my list saved?
Yes, only in this browser on this device. It isn’t sent to any server. If you clear your browser data, the list starts again.
Can I send the list to my clients?
Print it or save it as a PDF and attach it to your email. With Viaondo, the checklist is part of the client’s trip app.

Your clients’ checklist, inside their trip

In Viaondo, every trip includes a pre-trip checklist in the traveler’s language. They tick it off in their app, even offline.

Traveler app before departure, with the countdown, an update from the agency and the Getting ready list
Before departure, the trip app counts down the days and keeps a Getting ready list your client ticks off.
